Evelyn Jane Bates, 89 of Overland Park, KS passed away Friday, May 13, 2016 of natural causes. Evelyn was born November 21, 1926 and is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Larry Bates. Evelyn graduated from Paseo High School and later in life received her college degree from Central Missouri State University.
Evelyn held a variety of positions during her working career and was known for her kindness, talent, thoughtfulness and grace. Evelyn had a passion for gardening and her cat Missy. She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside.
Evelyn is survived by her three sons, Scott, Gregg (Matt Wagner), and Gary (Karen Bates), grandchildren Kevin Bates, Austin Zarobell (Rich), Kelley Switzer (Joel), Natalie Bates, and great-grandson Kyle Noblitt and numerous nieces and nephews in the Jacksonville, Florida area.
Visitation with be held Wednesday, June 8th from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Rd., Kansas City, MO 64137.
