I have such a lovely memory of watching Exie and her siblings meeting their sister Lillian for the first time after looking for her for 80 years after she had been adopted out of the family in 1928. Exie, Evelyn (my Mother), Mary and Bob waited excitedly for Lillian to arrive at the Kansas City hotel where the family had gathered to celebrate Exie's 90th birthday in December 2009. When Lillian walked in, she looked just like a taller version of her sisters. The siblings hugged and talked and held hands and laughed and cried and shared stories and photos of their lives and families. I've never seen Exie so happy.
