Jeanie was born on August 29, 1941, in Farmington, MO, to James and Cora Cox. Jeanie graduated from Jefferson City High School. In 1963, she married William H. Hervey II. Jeanie and Bill met while Jeanie attended William Woods College and Bill attended Westminster College in Fulton, MO. She graduated from William Woods College and then attended Missouri University in Columbia, MO where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She continued her education by obtaining a Master of Liberal Arts from Baker University. Jeanie was a lifelong educator. She taught middle school for 38 years in the Kansas City area and enjoyed every aspect of it.
Jeanie was a long-time member of Old Mission United Methodist Church in Fairway, KS. She was also a member of PEO for many years in Jefferson City and Kansas City. Jeanie was active in her sorority, Gamma Phi Beta, at Missouri University and remained so throughout her life. She served as rush chairman for many years and served on numerous committees for Gamma Phi Beta.
She was a true friend to her neighbors and many, many others. Jeanie had the most generous spirit. She was willing to help anyone and characteristically welcomed into her home many friends of her children over the years. Her door was always open. She was the life of the party; no one was a stranger in Jeanie's presence.
Jeanie and Bill frequently traveled to their "Little Blue House" on Table Rock Lake with the entire family. The times spent at the Lake were some of the most wonderful, fun and memorable times of their lives. In addition, she was a dedicated fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and her Missouri Tigers.
