Frances "Odell" Barrett

Frances “Odell” Barrett, 90 years old, passed away on January 20, 2017 at Hidden Lake Care Center. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the McGilley and Sheil Funeral Home (11924 E. 47th St, Kansas City. MO 64133). Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at St. Bernadette Parish (9020 E. 51st Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64133) followed by interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Odell was born in West Mineral, KS on July19, 1926 to Lloyd and Frances B. Geddes. Odell grew up during the great depression in a rural town. This experience shaped her perspective on the value of family and friends. Her family was her passion and she would often tell others that her daughter was her greatest accomplishment. She taught her daughter and two granddaughters the importance of education and hard work. Her family will forever be grateful for her wisdom and love. She will also be missed by her many friends who were impacted by her generosity and kindness.

Odell was a woman of many passions and talents. She was known to frequent her lake property with Timothy during the summer months and return with many fish and fisherman tales. She took her job as a homemaker very seriously and was determined to protect and grow every hard earned penny that her husband earned. She was smart and independent until the end. She was also incredibly kind and generous.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 52 years, Timothy Barrett who passed away in April of 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Caldwell; son-in-law, Lawrence Caldwell; granddaughter, Kelly Hayse; grandson-in-law, Jason Hayse; granddaughter, Katy Caldwell; three great grandchildren, Timothy Goolsby, Lily Hayse and Aidan Hayse; three nieces, Thea Leishman, Rosalyn Lorenzato and Caren Lorenzato; three nephews, James, Mark and Stefan Lorenzato as well as many close friends.
