Fran Parketon, 95, died September 5, 2012 in her home at The Gardens Assisted Living in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at Church of the Redeemer, 7110 Hwy. 9 NW, Kansas City, Missouri on Monday, September 10, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time. Fran proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II where she met her beloved husband Blake, who preceded her in death in 1999. She retired from the Marine Corps Finance Center when she and Blake bought a restaurant in Hermann, Missouri. After retiring from the restaurant business in 1983 they returned to Kansas City. She was a member of Church of the Redeemer, the Northland Elks Lodge #2376, and the VFW Post #7350. She was an avid bridge player, a crossword puzzle enthusiast, and treasured her many friends. She leaves two daughters Randi Heard and husband Jack of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Kim Reister of Overland Park, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vitas Hospice, 4041 S. Lynn Ct. Dr., #300, Independence, Missouri 64055 and Church of the Redeemer Memorial Garden.
