

Francis “Thad” Miller, 84, died peacefully on February 13, 2026. Thad was born on September 28, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri to Paul and Theresia Miller (Terfehr). He graduated from De La Salle Military Academy in 1959, after which he enrolled in business college where he met his future wife, Carol Jackman. Thad enlisted in the United States Navy in 1961, and after initial training, Thad married Carol Jackman in 1962. After serving in the Navy in primarily Naval intelligence for 10 years, Thad returned to Kansas City, and began working for the United States Postal service as a letter carrier initially and then becoming a station manager. His children remember him as a kind and funny father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. After his wife passed, he moved out to California to live with his daughter, Anne, spending time traveling visiting family and friends. He moved back to Kansas City in 2022 to live with his son, Jeff. Thad loved to fish, watch sports and play with his grandkids. He was a generous individual who loved spending time with his family.
Thad was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol; his parents, Paul and Theresia; and his brother, Paul. Thad is survived by his son, Jeff Miller; daughter-in law-Helen, of Kansas City; grandchildren, Emily and Steven; and great-granddaughter, Keeley; daughter, Anne (Miller) VanGarsse; son-in-law, Jason VanGarsse, of Clovis, California; grandchildren, Catherine, Michael and Caroline; as well as nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Cameron Veteran’s home at 1111 Euclid Ave, Cameron, MO 64429.
A visitation will be held on February 17, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 Northeast Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO 64119. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location, beginning at 11:30 a.m.The committal service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on February 17, 2026 at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO 64138.
