Fred Douglas Marcy, 92, of Kansas City, passed away in his daughter’s home on August 11, 2014. Visitation and lunch will be held Friday, August 15, from 12:00-1:00 p.m., with the service to follow at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO.
Dad was born January 20, 1922. He was married to Betty Taylor Marcy for 72 years. He founded and ran a very successful business for 40 years. He served in the military training pilots from1942 to 1945. Dad loved animals and always had horses and dogs. He was strong, courageous, and he loved deeply. Dad was devoted to his family and was extremely honorable. He was a defender of the helpless. Dad had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his son Gary Douglas Marcy and his wife Emilie, his daughter Sherry Marcy, his granddaughter Shannon Moon and her husband Daren, his grandson Sean Marcy, three great-grandchildren Seth Thomas, Kylie Moon and Taylor Moon, two step-grandchildren Renee Skinner, Allen Skinner and his wife Kim, four stepgreat-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death by three months. He was also preceded in death by all five of his siblings.
