Freda was born on December 19, 1938, to Fred and Ruby Lee, of Centerville, Kansas. Her early years were spent on a farm in Centerville with her parents and older sister, Elma. Surrounded by many aunts, uncles and cousins, until a fire destroyed their home and they relocated to Overland Park, Kansas. Freda graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1956. She worked for a movie theater and then as a secretary for the Shriners while she was in school. She later attended and graduated from KC Business College; where she met Vic DeMayo and they later married. She loved Vic dearly.
Freda and Vic bought a house in Independence, Missouri where they started their family. They had three boys, Mark, Mitch "David" and Mike.
Freda was a Christian and raised her family in the Methodist faith. As she and Vic were both athletic, they spent a lot of time practicing with their boys, as well as taking them to practices and games. Freda stayed at home with the boys until they were old enough to begin school then she went back to work for Missouri Division of Employment Security. She worked there until she retired.
In 1972, Vic and Freda, along with Vic's brother Rich and his wife, Janice, opened a premier boat dealership in Harrisonville, Missouri called American Marine. While still working, they made some wise investments, that after a time, afforded them the means to travel some and buy a home at Lake Lotawana. She especially liked to travel to Hawaii, as they went 3 times. They also owned a home in Arizona, where they spent their winters.
Freda lived a full life and was always on the go. She made a lot of good friends along the way and was very well thought of. She loved her family, always putting them first. She was gracious and giving, but if she thought you weren't acting right, you knew it immediately.
Freda is survived by Mark and his daughters: Jessica (husband, Alex), Lauren (husband, Brandon) and two stepchildren, Angie (husband, Sly) and Jason (wife, Tricia); Mitch's wife Lisa, Mike (wife, Julie), and their children: Kaylee, Kenna, Victor, Jack, Abbie and Anthony. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
We know she is now with Jesus along with and her parents, sister, husband Vic, son Mitch and other family and friends that have made the journey before her. We shall all be reunited in the Lord's time.
We love you, Mom!
A graveside service for Freda will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Centerville Cemetery, 1350 W. 1350 Rd., Centerville, Kansas 66014.
