
FREDDIE LEE FOSTER Freddie Lee Foster, of Raymore, MO, passed away February 25, 2015, at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit at the age of 88. Freddie was born on December 28, 1926, in Warsaw, MO, to Fred and Lola Taylor Foster. He was the 11th child of 12 the couple had. Freddie met the love of his life, Velda Niece, in Kansas City. Freddie and Velda wed on May 27, 1946, and unto this marriage they had 2 children, Sharon Kay and Stephen Lee. Freddie and Velda were married 66 years until Velda’s death in 2013. Freddie was serving his country when he married Velda and they lived several places before returning home after his service ended. Freddie and Velda spent their working years raising Sharon & Stephen living in Raytown, while Freddie worked for GM at the Fairfax plant in KCK for 30 years, retiring in 1979. Freddie got to enjoy 36 years of retirement, actually more years than he worked. After retiring, Freddie & Velda moved several times; Lake of the Ozarks, Lincoln, MO, Tucson and Casa Grande, AZ, before finally returning to the greater Kansas City area to be with family and friends. Freddie & Velda traveled a lot in their retirement years seeing a lot of the United States, and working several summers in some of America’s National Parks to enjoy their time together, while seeing the USA. They also traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, France and Spain. Freddie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 66 years, Velda, and 10 of his siblings. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Sharon and Jim Burton, of Raymore; and Stephen and Gayle Foster, of Independence, MO; grandchildren: Shawn Burton (wife Beth), Bryan Foster, Shannon Burton and Angela Leonard (husband David), great grandchildren: Chandler, Stephenie, Daniel and Caroline; and one brother, Raymond Foster, of Lawson, MO; and many other family members and friends that he made during his lifetime. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Funeral service will be 2:00pm, Monday, March 2, 2015, at Floral Hills with visitation beginning one hour prior.
