

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.” Ecclesiastes 3:1, 2 It is a fact that life is uncertain and there is a season for everything. Mr. Frederick D. Cason Sr. was called to his heavenly home February 18, 2012. He was the last of fourteen children born to the union of John and Lea Anna Cason. This blessed event took place in Glasgow, Missouri, October 21, 1926.
Mr. Cason united in holy matrimony with Mary Adlene Graves June 22, 1948. Two children were born to this union. The family relocated to Kansas City, Missouri in 1950. They united with St. Stephen Baptist Church in the 1960’s. Mrs. Cason preceded him in death January 2, 2006. He realized the need for preparation and attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was inducted into Beta Omega Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity in 1948. He was thereafter a continuous member of Beta Omega Chapter in Kansas City. Before completing his education, he served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. After receiving an honorable discharge, he returned to Lincoln University to complete his education with a BS degree in Business Administration. His employment included the Army Map Service and the Federal Aviation Administration before retirement in 1993. Mr. Cason continued to be active as a life member of Lincoln University Alumni Association and the Association of Retired FAA Administrators. His hobbies were tinkering at his Lake house in the Ozarks, fishing, bowling and watching his favorite westerns on television. The life and legacy of Frederick Cason Sr. will be cherished by his son, Dr Frederick D. Cason Jr. (Cathryn) and daughter, Sheila M. Cason-Lockhart (David); four grandchildren, Mario Shaun Friday, Marlon Lockhart, Matthew Tyler Cason and Malcolm Alexander Cason. A host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends, particularly his oldest living friend and track & field team mate from Lincoln University, Mr. Olenda Knowles of Kansas City. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. There will be also be a visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life services at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, at St. Stephen Baptist Church, 1414 Truman Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
