

Fred was born on March 20, 1943 in Kansas City, Mo. to Howard A. and Esther Frauline Owings. He was a long time member of Grandview First Baptist where he served as deacon and was a Bible study teacher. Fred was a member of the NRA and a bluegrass music group. He loved riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family. Fred retired in 2004 as plant manager from Wentworth Technologies, Inc.
Fred is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandra Owings, son Steve Owings (Diana), daughters Toni Hines (Doug) and Vicki Wright (Doug), 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, brother John Owings (Susan) and sister Karen Phares (Doug). Preceded in death by his parents and brother Larry Owings.
May Fred be remembered for his faith, love of family and friends and sense of humor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grandview First Baptist or Kansas City Hospice.
Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 23 at First Baptist Church, 1416 Main Street, Grandview, Mo. Visitation to be held 2 hours prior to service. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 24 at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
