

G. Jane McCrea Nutt, who passed away on March 12, 2026, was born on November 30, 1925 in Ottawa, KS to Ralph and Ruth McCrea. She was reared on the family farm outside of Richmond, KS with four siblings: Ralph, Jr, Cleo, Pat, and Bill.
Jane graduated from Richmond High School in 1943. She married Robert L. Nutt, who was at home on leave from the service, on December 17, 1943. They had a stillborn daughter followed by the birth of Rev. Donna Chavez (Octavio), Bob Nutt, Jr., and Dr. Rick Nutt (Rev. Mary Gene Boteler). She delighted in her four grandchildren: Eric Chavez, Mary Rebekah Fortman, Nicolas Chavez, and Hannah Nutt and her great-grandchildren: Caroline and Elliott Fortman and Solana and Cruz Chavez. Her extended family included many beloved nieces and nephews.
After World War II, the couple moved to Kansas City, MO. Jane was a devoted wife and mother and worked in the office at Northeast Jr. High School for many years. She volunteered at Trinity Lutheran Hospital where she received special recognition for her years of service. She was an ordained elder at Northeast Presbyterian Church—singing in the choir and working in the food pantry, among other service activities. Later she joined Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church where she continued her volunteer service. She celebrated her 100th birthday in 2025.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Nutt, Sr., an infant daughter, beloved son-in-law Octavio Chavez, and her siblings Ralph, Jr., Cleo, and Pat.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church, 6429 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO 64133. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Committal services at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Summer Lunch Ministry at Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church, a ministry that provides lunches to children in the summer gap.
