Oh Gail, what a wonderful person. So genuine! She never failed to call and check on my mother after Dad passed away. She and my dad worked together at NKCH for some years. Mother and Dad loved her dearly, as did the entire family.

To Gail's family,
I am so glad I knew Gail. She made me smile whenever I saw her, especially when she wore her Mickey Mouse coat.  One of the last times I saw her, she was eating french fries in the ES breakroom. Another time I saw her she was making a trip to the Cafeteria for more french fries. She mentioned a few weeks ago she was going for a lung biopsy, and she was worried. I told her to think good thoughts, and I would keep her in my prayers. I will still keep Gail in my prayers, except this time I hope she is watching over us. Gail was a friend to everyone, as shown by the many employees and physicians who attended her celebration of life service. I did a story on her for the employee newsletter several years ago about how she donated PTO hours to help her coworkers. She never hesitated to help. We will miss you, Gail.

Gail - We will miss your smiling face and cheerful greetings. You are a person who truly embodied the caring spirit of NKCH. You are in our hearts forever.

Gail loved exploring new restaurants and didn't hold back her opinion, good or bad.  Gail loved EJ's Urban Eatery in the West Bottoms, saying they had the best burgers and was disappointed when it closed during Covid 19.  Mud Bugs had a good shrimp poboy but the fries were toooo salty.  Thunderbird Grill in Claycomo had her favorite tacos with a grilled chicken salad to go.  They cut the lettuce in little pieces.  Lol. 
 Christine's Firehouse had the best cheese steak, Lufftis for catfish, Corner Cafe for liver and onions.  Gail was really disgusted with me lol for taking her to that filthy place Grinders and she told the wait staff in no uncertain terms what she thought of the place.  The funniest visit ever was to McLain's Bakery in Waldo.  There must have been a drainage or backup issue that day, and Gail being our Gail, with no verbal filter, looked at me and said "what are we doing in this stinky place?"
I said, "let's get something to go cuz their baked goods are delicious."  Gail picked out cookie and at the register the clerk said "okay your cookie is $3.50....."$3.50" Gail shouted "in this stinky place!" I started laughing so hard, as did the man behind us.  The clerk was trying to get change for me as quick as possible. When we got outside I sat down on a bench, laughing with tears running down my cheeks.  The young man who was behind us in line came out of the bakery still chuckling, told us to have a nice day, to which Gail said, "now I'm out of that place I will!". 
I will miss my foodie adventures with Gail and I am so grateful to have had those adventures with Gail.

Gail will be missed in the halls at NKCH by many.  Her smile, her attitude,  and her gesture to make a point to always seek how you and your family were doing. Truly one of a kind.  I feel lucky to have been able to have worked with her for so many years. 


I worked with Gail at North Kansas City Hospital and she was known and loved by all the employees. She will be missed by all!
My prayers go out to her family and friends.

Gail was truly a special person!  She was the informal employee “ambassador” of sorts at North Kansas City Hospital and spread joy and humor wherever she went!  She loved to visit and razz her friends, or sometimes just check in with how you were doing.  She didn’t know a stranger!  Even though I retired several years ago, she would ask mutual friends about me - not because I was so special, but because SHE was so thoughtful!  She will be sorely missed by many.  Fly high and free, dear Gail! 😘

Rick and I are so sad to hear about Gail Anne. My mother-in-law and I worked with her at The Jones Store, then I worked part time at the hospital and would give her a ride home as we were working nights. She Loved her family and always spoke of them. She was a beautiful soul God bless her.   Helen Velasquez 

Oh how she will be missed at the hospital. She was so loved by everyone. She made us all laugh every night. For a small little gal, she sure had a big heart & a lot of love to give. She knew everything that was going on in that hospital & she would come by & catch me up. It just won’t be the same without her. My condolences to the family! Gail was very sweet, a hard worker, and caring a person.  She always asked how my daughter was doing and my grandson.  And she always mentioned that we shared a birthday!  August 14 will be missing an angel!

I worked with Gail at the hospital. She would never let you pass without saying something to you. In my case she would call me shorty even though we're about the same height. Haha. 
She was always cracking jokes and was always fun to be around. I will miss her, as will everyone at NKCH. Prayers to her family.

Gail was a bright spot in the work day of everyone she met and if she didn’t know you, she made sure to introduce herself. She always had a smile on her face and her pride was very evident when talking about her family and of being a NKCH employee. I will miss our conversations in the hallway.  

I've known Gail since 2006, when I moved 2 doors down from her apartment in NKC.  Such a sweet, gentle person. I would shovel her sidewalk and spread salt after it snowed, when our other neighbor didn't do it first.  Whenever I saw her waiting for her bus to work, I'd walk down and talk to her until it came. She was so happy and excited for her new apartment. I'll miss her happy demeanor.   

I met Gail years ago when she was working the evening shift at the hospital.  She was a very special person and an extremely hard worker.  

Gail was always so kind and loving. She always had time to catch up on how everyone was. She will forever live on through us who knew and loved her.

Gail was always a shining light in the hospital. When I would run into her she always would give me an update with all of her family , not always good and not always bad! She sure loved all of the family! I have known her since I was 4  i think. Or that’s what I remember, fly high my friend!!

My sweet friend, I will never be able to enjoy our Wednesday hashbrowns the same, you always made sure we got some. I've never known anyone like you, you were definitely one in a million.  The halls at NKCH are already quieter, I think we are all still just in shock, hard to believe our friend is gone. You were loved by so many, all different departments and different stories. Oh all the stories that could be told, you just made everyone's life brighter, full of laughter, and sometime tears(from laughing so hard)  And NKCH was just one small group you touched in life, and now you have brought us all together again with your passing. Please watch over us from up there, everytime I hear the words "grandma" or " turkey" I will think of you. RIP my friend. Love you. 

Hahahaha oh man…when we were kids and used to go to the Heimans, I still remember Gail Ann yelling one word,  “KEVIN!”  Hahaha.  Oh she was a sweetie.  When I got the first bad news I wanted to get together with her and play some Yahtzee, so she could brush up on it if she’s going to be playing with Grandma Schulte, Aunt Cora Ann and the rest, but time wasn’t on my side.  I’ll miss her.  

Like so many, Gail was my friend that I was blessed to have in my life.  I worked with Gail for 16 years and was her manager at N. KC Hospital.  Gail was one of the first people I met at the hospital and we had many laughs and a few tears over the years.  After I left NKCH in 2015, Gail continued to send me birthday cards and we got together a few times to catch up.  Gail also kept up with my family and would ask about them.  I think of the Scripture 1 John 4:19, when I think of Gail- 'We love him because he first loved us.'  Gail was always the first to love people and it was easy and natural to love her back.  Gail will be missed by all.  (Paul Stone)
