Gale William Watson, 89 passed away on August 29th, 2026 in Kansas City, Missouri, surrounded by family and love. He was born on January 10th, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri to Elsie Fields and Edward Watson.
Gale graduated from Glennon High School and worked as a pipe fitter for local #533. He soon married the love of his life Phyllis E. Watson on May 4th, 1970, and together they raised their 10 kids. Gale was active in the catholic church and enjoyed donating to many local catholic charities including Salvation Army, St Mary’s, and many other organizations.
Gale was a devoted family man. Throughout the years he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids, he also enjoyed going fishing and hunting! Gale loved going to car-shows and showing his own vehicles.
Gale is survived by his Sister Betty Hayes (102), Sons Tom (Angie) Watson, Jim (Kathy) Persell, Nate (Shawn) Persell, Phil (Regina) Persell, Sam (Jeanie) Persell, Frank Watson & Greg Watson. Grandchildren Madilyn (Meadow) Watson, Anna Persell, Tara Persell, Cole Persell, TJ (Delaney) Persell, Hillary (Anthony) Smith, Shallyn (Jesse) Persell-Mauk, Nick (Morgan) Persell, Lance Persell, & Autum (Michael) Aleto, and many Great-Grandchildren. Gale is preceded in death by His Mother, Elsie Fields, Father Edward Watson, Sister Norma Neill, Brother Tom Watson, Sister Doris Atteberry, Sister Joye Fisher, Wife Phyllis Watson, Son Gale Watson Jr. Son Joe Watson, daughter Mary Beth Watson, Granddaughter Chelsie Persell & His wife in his later years Gloria Dorian.
Gale’s kind spirit and giving soul has made a lasting impact on many around him. He will be missed dearly.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on September 11th, 2026. Visitation at 10am, Mass starting at 11am at Saint Patrick’s Parish: 1357 NE 42nd Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64116. Burial to follow at Terrace Park Cemetery: 801 NW 108th St, Kansas City, MO 64155
