Gary Bowers, age 85, of Lee's Summit, Missouri passed away peacefully at Lee's Summit Medical Center on January 14th, 2022.

Gary was born on July 9, 1936 in Independence, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred Bowers & Oma Fretwell, his wife of 66 years Norma Bowers and his brother Donald Bowers.

He is survived by his daughter Sheri Elliot (Stuart), son Gary M. Bowers (Jennifer), daughter Diana Bowers, daughter Lisa Cox (Scott), grandchildren Kristi Atkins (Tim), Kelly Marx (Andrew), Matthew Bowers (Heather), Brittney Frye (Kyle), Corey Bowers, Tanner Bury (Emily) and Kelsey Bowers, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Gary served in the Naval Reserves for 6 years. He worked in the publishing industry for the majority of his career and retired from Time Warner Communications.

Visitation for family and friends will be at 12:00 pm on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral Service immediately following at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery South.
