Gary L Darby, 61 of Independence MO, passed away, Saturday, December 22, 2018 at his home surrounded by his close family and friends. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Newcomers Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge BLVD, Kansas City MO 64133, with Funeral Services following from 2:00PM to 3:00PM at Newcomers Floral Hills Funeral Home.
Gary was born April 6th, 1957 in Kansas City MO, to Walter and Bonnie Darby. He graduated from Raytown High school in 1975. He started his career after high school with General Motors where his Brother, Douglas and Dad, Walter also worked. He went on to work for Sara Lee(formally: Tasty Breads) as a Route Driver before going out on retirement.
Gary was an Eagle Scout, and a very good baseball player growing up. He loved: water skiing, motorcycles, Nascar, Top Fuel Dragsters and the local Sports Teams. His favorite color was red and you could see this by any vehicle he had, it had to be Red. He always had the nicest yard on the street and most definitely, the greenest. He especially loved his late wife Jerri L. Darby. Gary is survived by his Parents, Walter and Bonnie Darby of Lees Summit MO; Brother, Douglas Darby of Blue Springs Mo; Three sons: Gary Babich (step-son) of Mckinney Tx, Eric Babich (step-son) of Lees Summit MO, and Chris Darby of Independence MO; One grandchild, Ashlynn Darby, with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jerri L. Darby in 2007.
