Mr. Gary Oliver Manning

GARY OLIVER MANNING Gary Oliver Manning, 72, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014. Funeral to be held at 12PM on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Floral Hills Funeral Home, with visitation at 11AM. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church. He was born November 30, 1941, in Gallatin, MO, to Frank & Opal Mae Manning. Gary married Janice Marie Manning, on Friday, May 13, 1966. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church. He retired from the Kansas City Water Department in 1998. He was an avid reader, history buff, master adviser, problem solver, and loyal Royals and Chiefs fan. He was thoughtful and quick to help anyone in need with his vast knowledge and many talents. He had a quick wit and was a master story teller. His favorite place to be was with his grandchildren, and he supported them in every way, every day. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 45 years Janice Marie. He is survived by his daughters, Diana Scarcello and husband Rocky, Laura Jennings and husband Jeff; special daughter, Tammie Hicks and special grandson Donnie Hicks; grandchildren, Rocco and Vincent Scarcello, Jordan and Jake Jennings; sisters-in-law, Joyce Manning and Lucy Manning; brother-in-law, Bob Bixler; numerous loving nieces, nephews, and cousins; and lifelong best friend Joe Coulson.
