Gene Duane Krein, 75, of Raymore, MO, passed away on August, 15, 2021. Join us for a Celebration of Life Thursday, August 19 at 2:30 p.m. at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO 64145. Livestream will be available at www.mcgilleystatelinechapel.com.
Gene was born on November 25, 1945 in Goodrich, ND to Theodore and Clara (Leno) Krein. After graduating from Wing High School, ND in 1964, he went on to serve in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany, served for three years and was honorably discharged.
On February 1, 1969 he married his forever love, Viola (Grinsteiner) and they had a wonderful life together where they were married for 52 years. Through this union they went on to have two children, Cameron & Kimberly. In North Dakota Gene worked for Interstate Brands Corporation for 28 years, and then tried his hand at owning a deli. In Kansas City he worked for Butternut, CFS West Holdings, and most recently at KC Drive Away.
Gene was the kindest, most gentle, genuinely happy guy, and his family meant more to him than anything else in the world. He would be sure tell that to whomever was willing to listen to him, along with a few jokes of course. He was beyond proud of his children and his grandchildren and always tried his best to support them.
Gene was always on the go - his favorite activity was supporting his children and grandchildren at their respective sporting events. You’ve never seen a man more proud sitting in the stands. He loved to fix and tinker with things and was often found borrowing tools from his son-in-law, Adam, for his next projects.
Anyone who knew Gene knew that he was the most loving husband, father and grandfather a family could ask for.
He is survived by his wife Viola Krein, his children Cameron Krein, Orcas Island, WA, Kim (Adam) Cragg of Raymore, MO, Grandchildren Jacob and Mckenzie Cragg, and Daisy Krein. Mother-in-Law Mary Grinsteiner, Brothers and sisters: Harley (Gloria) Krein of Dickinson, Roger Krein of Bismarck, and Dennis "Mike" (Rosie) Krein of Bismarck; Carol (Doug) Hammeren of Billings, Montana, and Rhonda (Bob) Krein - Fool Bear of Cannon Ball.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Clara Krein.
