

George Francis Bahorich, 89, of Leawood, KS, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 23 at Church of the Nativity, 3800 West 119th Street, Leawood, KS. Private burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Thursday, January 22 at McGilley State Line Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice, 9233 Ward Parkway #201, Kansas City, MO 64114.
George was born September 15, 1925 in Pittsburg, PA to Frank and Dora (Zunic) Bahorich. He lived in an orphanage from the age of seven, landed in France three days after D-Day with the 103rd Division, and helped liberate the concentration camp at Dachau. He excelled in football and George Halas of the Chicago Bears invited him to play with the team. He married Patti Shideler December 26th, 1953. Together they raised five children and despite his tough upbringing, he was affectionate to his family. During his career with AT&T he had up to 400 people reporting to him and before retirement he was a Long Lines District Plant Manager.
George is preceded in death by his parents; he is survived by his loving wife, Patti; their children, Bill (Mary Jo) Bahorich, Mike (Donna) Bahorich, Jerry (Joyce) Bahorich, Phil (Karen) Bahorich, and Meredith (Brian) Griffith; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren and two nieces.
