

George H. Horst, 90, of Olathe, Kansas passed away July 21, 2011. George was born May 20, 1921 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of Roy and Hazel (Eldridge) Horst. He graduated from Paseo High School in 1938. He attended Park College for one year and worked at the K.C. Star before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. During World War II he served with the 3rd Marine Division in the South Pacific. After the war he returned to Kansas City and worked in the lithography business until he started Horst Graphics which he owned and operated until retiring. He married his childhood sweetheart Jean McClintick and moved her from Minnesota to Kansas City where they lived for 65 years. George was an Elder at the Ward Parkway Presbyterian Church. George is survived by his wife Jean Horst; children Marilyn Taylor and husband Brad of Olathe, Kansas, Karen Wiederaenders and husband Pat of Fairway, Kansas and Guy Horst and wife Carol of Olathe. He also leaves his grandchildren Betsy Taylor, Anne Taylor, Katy Hupe and husband Brian, Amelia Wiederaenders, Lauren Horst, Thomas Horst and Karl Wiederaenders; one great-grandson Seth Hupe; and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 25, at Ward Parkway Presbyterian Church. Private interment in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
