

George Joseph Timko Sr., 93, of Indep., Mo., befittingly passed away July 4, 2015 (Independence Day). He was a paratrooper in the 82nd airborne and completed two combat jumps behind enemy lines during World War II. He loved his country and was a true patriot. George was born Jan. 10, 1922, in Czechoslovakia. He immigrated to the US at age 7 and was a life-long resident of the Kansas City area. George retired in 1981 from Armco Steel Corporation after 43 years of service. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and will be missed dearly. Visitation will be Thur., July 9th from 6 to 8 p.m. (Rosary at 6 p.m.). Mass will be Fri., July 10th at 10 a.m. Both visitation and mass will be at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church 10017 E. 36th Terrace Indep., MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Timko, his brother John Timko, and son, James Timko, in 1985. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Hilaria “Larie”, his son George J. Timko Jr. wife Pam “P.J.”, Pam Haefele husband Jerry, Jackie Doutt husband Greg, Patti Lewis husband Bill, grandchildren: George J. Timko III, Bryan Timko wife Nicole, Jeff Timko wife Serena, Jamie Smithson husband Rob, Scott Haefele, Tanner Doutt, Kristopher Doutt and great grandchildren: Allison Timko, Jameson Timko, Xander Timko, Cooper Smithson, Maddox Smithson, and Parker Smithson.
