Georgia Sartalis was born in Des Moines Iowa, the second child of Ernest and Anastasia Sartalis.
After graduation from high school, she worked at Wilson Moore Insurance Company until the death of her father. Georgia then moved to Kansas City to be closer to her sister and family. She was fortunate enough to find employment at Williams Carver Company. She worked there until she was 86 years old and considered the Carvers as part of her family.
Georgia never married, but had nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews that she cared for very deeply. She was known in the family for always including several shiny, gold one dollar coins in all of their birthday and holiday cards. She was overly generous and couldn’t say no to any charity that called her and asked for a donation.
She was a reserved and quiet soul in a large and loud family. We are thankful that her struggle with dementia is over, and that she has entered the kingdom of heaven.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Penny Elliott (Calvin), her brother, Chris Sartalis (Nora), her nephew, Chris Elliott (Beth) and her great-niece, Alexis Elliott. She leaves behind to remember her nephews, Steve Elliott (Ronda) and Bill Elliott (Staci), niece Georgianne Potts (Denzil) in the Kansas City area, and nephews Ernie Sartalis (Kathy), Nick Sartalis, Andy Sartalis (Irene) and niece Penny Callahan (Dave) all from the East coast, and numerous great-nieces and nephews. May her memory be eternal.
A private service is planned. The family requests that donations in the name of Georgia Sartalis be made as a memorial gift to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 12001 Wornall Rd., KCMO, 64145.
