Gerrie was born October 23, 1934 in Harrisburg, PA to the late Samuel E. and Elizabeth (Shipp) Potteiger. Gerrie enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War and was assigned to Air Rescue Division. While in the service, Gerrie met Ralph J. Hodapp. They married on January 14, 1954 at St. Stephen’s Church in Washington D.C. Gerrie and Ralph celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this year. They raised a family of six children, William R., Gary J., Audrey A., Mark E., Curt A., and Roger P.
Gerrie was active with the Catholic Church, JayCettes and Parent Teacher Associations. She and Ralph moved around the Midwest to various towns settling in the Kansas City area in 1988. They joined Joseph and Mary Crushshon to run the Homecrafters Realty for 10 years. Gerrie enjoyed raising her family, traveling, pinochle, cooking, Pro-Life activities, and her church, Our Lady of Lourdes, Raytown. Gerrie always said that she enjoyed growing up with her kids.
Gerrie was preceded in death by her mother, father and brother, Samuel.
She is survived by her husband (Ralph), her children (William, Gary, Audrey, Mark, Curt and Roger), their spouses, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her sisters (Linda and Betsy), and her brother (Marlin).
