Gerry graduated from Powhatton Kansas High School in 1942. She married Raymond Walters on May 17, 1943. They lived in Reserve, Kansas and started there family of 3 children. They owned and operated a Gas Station and a Grocery Store until 1953. They moved to Kansas City, Kansas and owned and operated 5 drive-in restaurants called Fat Boy Burgers. In 1958 Ray & Gerry started teaching Ballroom Dancing. They owned Walters Dance Center in Kansas City, Kansas and started the Heart of America Dance Competition in 1974 that is still very successful after 45 years. Gerry was a renowned instructor of ballroom dance and theory of dance. After the passing of her husband Raymond in 1978 she continued to teach dance and married Charles Morris and moved to Texas in 1986 to continue teaching Ballroom Dance until she was 80 years old.
Gerry came back to Kansas City in 2004 to be with family and friends.
She is predeceased by her parents, 4 brothers, a sister, husbands Raymond and Charles and grandson Brandon McKinsey.
She is survived by 2 sons LeRoy Walters & wife Ginny, Roger Walters & wife Mary and daughter Mary Sprang & husband Edward, 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grand children.
