Ginette was born February 2, 1929 in Bouge-Namur, Belgium to the late Jules and Nelly (Chainiaux) Bacus. As a young lady she met an American GI named Joseph and they quickly fell in love. He was the love of her life. They married in Belgium and came to the US after the war. They were married for 67 years and had 2 children, Joe Jr. and Cindy. She became an American Citizen not long after coming to the US. She was an active member of IBCC church, but in her later years could not attend. Ginette was also an Eastern Star.
Ginette was preceded in death by her husband, Joe and their son, Joe Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Abernathy and a close friend who was considered family, Natalie Cocoziello, who helped Ginette with her final days.
Ginette was a great wife, mother, and friend. She will be greatly missed.
A visitation for Ginette will be held Monday, July 8, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home, 11924 E. 47th Street, Kansas City, MO 64133. Funeral service to begin at 11:00 AM. Committal will follow the service at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, Missouri 64131. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ginette's memory may be made to Great Plains SPCA Pet Adoption Center, 5424 Antioch Dr., Merriam, KS 66202 or to the Chain of Hope.
