Gladys Carroll

Gladys Veigl Carroll, 98, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014 at John Knox Village Hospice. A Funeral service will be at 7:00 pm Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene, 11811 State Line Road, Kansas City, Missouri. A Visitation will be from 5:00-6:45 pm, January 28, 2014 at Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene with a burial in Cullman, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made at Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene.

Gladys was born March 3, 1915 in Cullman, Alabama. She was a nurse in Cullman for 40 years having been asked in the late 1960s to lead the nursing team that helped open the first ICU at Cullman Hospital. Gladys was a loving mother and friend, compassionate and kind to all. She was faithful to God and the Church of the Nazarene throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Zona Boone Canant; siblings, Melba, Juanita, Oran, and Evelyn; husband, Frank J. Veigl (1964); husband, Paul F. Carroll (1984). Survivors include a daughter, Judy Veigl; step-children, Charles (Glenna), Mabel (Bob) Emerson, Sarah (John (2007)) Dunn, Eunice (Ron) Rankin, Fletcher (Millie), Paul (Faith), Polly (Lee) Gangaware; 16 step-grandchildren; brother, Walton (Sylvia) Canant; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
