

Gladys E. Clawson, age 101, passed away at the Rising Star Nursing Center, Rising Star, TX, on April 3, 2017. She was born on October 6, 1915, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Doltie Warren and Addie Pearl Mericle. The family moved to Raymore, MO, where she attended school. She was a star basketball player and met her future husband, Bill. They were married in 1934, and moved to Lees Summit, MO. They moved to Greenwood, MO, in 1967. Gladys worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. for 20 years before retiring. She was a Sunday school and vacation bible school teacher. She belonged to the Brush Buddies Paint Club and loved to China paint. In December of 2013, due to health conditions, she moved to Rising Star, TX, to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Ronald Dean Clawson; daughter-in-law, Delia Clawson; her parents; one brother and three sisters. She is survived by daughter Charlotte Ray and husband, Donald, of Rising Star, TX; grandson, Randy Ray and family of Midland, TX; granddaughter Lori Taylor and family, of Memphis, TN; grandson, Shawn Clawson and family, of Springfield, MO; niece, Genevieve Case and husband, of Warrensburg, MO; and several other nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 9:00am, Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Floral Hills. Funeral service will begin at 10am. Interment will follow at Raymore Cemetery in Raymore, MO.
