Glenn W. Ladd, age 97, of Belton, Missouri, passed peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2020. Glenn was born November 9, 1922 in Archie, Missouri to Mary D. Freizner and William A. Ladd.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on February 5, 1943. He was an engineer and top turret gunner of the B-17 “Yankee Maid”. He flew thirty-five missions including two on June 6, 1944. He was honorably discharged and awarded the following: 4 Bronze Stars for the Air Offensive Europe, Normandy, North France, and Rhineland, and the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Air Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters. After his service in WWII he formed a business partnership with Sam Nussbaum in 1955, known as Tip Top Plumbing and Heating Company Inc. This was what he called "The Goose that laid the golden egg”. He achieved several awards through his service to the construction industry including: President of Associate Contractors, inducted into the Lenexa Hall of Fame for service to the City of Lenexa, Certificate of Appreciation from several Mayors of Kansas City, MO for his service, and many more. He went on to be a developer, home builder and the last of his business adventures was a property investor. He retired at the age of 91.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters, his wife, Harriet I. Ladd, of 46 years of marriage, two sons and one daughter. He is survived by his sister J. Merle Davis, five children and their spouses, thirty grandchildren and twenty two great-grandchildren.
