Gong Ging Choi, aka Lem Toy, 94, formerly of Kansas City, Missouri, died on April 1, 2016 at KU Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016 at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd, Kansas City, MO. Visitation from 9-11:00 a.m. on Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery, Kansas City, KS.
Gong Ging Choi was born on April 22, 1922 in Canton, China. He came to the United States in 1952 and was a naturalized U.S. citizen. He and his brother, Harry Toy, co-owned the House of Toy Chinese Restaurant on the Plaza until 1991. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gam Lou Toy Louie, in 2005; son, Billy Chill Youn Choi; brother, Harry Toy; and sister-in-law, Lee Dick Jean. Survivors include his brother in law, Daniel Yee, of New York; two sons, Sammy Chill Yim Choi and Wing Chill Wing Choi; daughters-in-law, Nancy Choi and Seto P. Choi; niece, Vivian Louie; five grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
