April 25, 1963 – June 5, 2025
Gregory Scott “Greg” Moore, age 62, passed away on June 5, at the Kansas City Hospice House of complications from cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 12, at the D.W. Newcomers Floral Hills Chapel, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. The service will be at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. David Howlett will officiate. Burial will follow immediately after the Service. Contributions in Greg’s memory may be made to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO 64145.
Greg was born on April 25, 1963, at the Independence Sanitarium, “the San.” He was a Christian, baptized as a child, and shared his faith with his friend and neighbor, the Rev. Alan Shelby. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson County, Mo., living most of his life in Independence. In his early years, he enjoyed camping with his Robinson grandparents at Pomme de Terre Lake, and staying at the Table Rock Lake home of his Moore grandparents. What a life for a young boy and his brothers.
Greg was a graduate of Hickman Mills High School, Cougars Class of 1981. No surprise then that his favorite tunes were 80s Classic Rock – Don’t Stop Believin’, Eye of the Tiger, and Every Breath You Take come to mind. He and his brother Brian shared a love of music and enjoyed many concerts together.
Greg worked for Jackson County; due to health problems, however, he was forced to take disability at an early age. This did not prevent him from enjoying all that life could offer him. In the Fall, he could be found at the Plaza Art Fair, enjoying the sights and sounds while appreciating the various artworks. He was able to spend a special vacation with his brother John and friend Jolene, on a road trip to Jefferson City in 2023.
Friends and family say that Greg was always thinking of others; his wit and laugh were hallmarks of his associations. Yet, he would “keep things real,” he didn’t sugar coat his feelings -- with Greg you always knew where he stood. Greg was strong-willed, even to the end as he struggled desperately to win his battle with cancer.
The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Luke’s East and at the Kansas City Hospice House for the wonderful care and support they provided not only to Greg but also to family.
Greg is survived by his devoted mother Carole Robinson (Moore) Bradshaw and stepfather Charles W. Bradshaw, the children he loved and raised as his own Terry “TJ” Edwards, David “DJ” Edwards, and Kristin Stocstill, brothers Brian Moore (Jennifer) and John Moore (Jolene), stepbrother Chuck Bradshaw (Loretta), stepsister Jennifer Masuccio, and several nieces and nephews. Greg is also survived by his Brindle Terrier Coral Lee, who brought him much shared love, joy and companionship.
He was predeceased by his father Lamon Richard Moore, grandparents Edward John Robinson and Hazel Sexton Robinson, and Lamon V.H. Moore and Bertha Kennedy Moore, and brother-in-law Tony Masuccio.
Just like a star you will shine forever in our hearts and memories.
Shine bright in Heaven as you did on earth.
We miss you, Greg.
