

Gregory Vest was born December 28, 1963 to Edward and Janet Vest and passed away Friday, March 31, 2017. Greg was a graduate of Raytown High School where he loved English, literature and was active in all aspects of band. He was an Eagle Scout and a warrior in the tribe of Mic-O-Say. He earned a lifetime teaching certificate degree, as well as a bachelor’s degree in English from Central Missouri State University. He worked seven years at Children International and then 21 years at Cerner, first as a technical writer, moving his way up to a position as a Program Solutions Designer. The joy of his life was being a dad to his two daughters, watching them mature into independent, beautiful young women. He was an incredibly sensitive and loving man who will always be missed by his family and friends. They will remember him as a man with an adventurous spirit (with his beloved jeeps) and a die-hard Royals fan!
He is survived by his wife Marsha Vest (Belton); children Lindsey Vest (Kansas City), Allison Vest (Denver), Paige Benton (Belton), Parker Benton (Kansas City); brother Kevin Vest and his wife Carrie Vest and their children Matthew Vest, Landon Vest, Danielle Vest (Pleasant Hill); and parents Ed and Janet Vest (Lee’s Summit).
Services will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church, 16808 Holmes Rd., Belton, Missouri 64012 on Wednesday, April 5 at 1:00 pm. Burial will be held at a later date for family only.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to “Recovery International” in care of, St. Mary Magdalene Church, in his name. The family wishes to thank friends who have been so kind and supportive of them during this time.
