

Guadalupe E. “Lupe” Reyes, 85, of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully in her home on June 20, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Lupe was born on February 25, 1939 in Puerta de Chula (Zacatecas) Jerez, Mexico to Rita Enriquez Carrillo and Donisio “Nicho’ Enriquez. She was united in marriage to Guadalupe ‘Lupe’ Mariano Reyes on October 30, 1969 and became a naturalized US citizen on August 15, 1979.
Besides her parents, Guadalupe was preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe Mariano Reyes; brothers, Juan Enriquez, Trinidad Enriquez, Herminio Enriquez, Antonio Enriquez, and Salvador Enriquez; sisters, Juanita Enriquez Carrillo and Rosa Maria Enriquez Carrillo; and step son-in-law, Wayne Wilcoxson. She is survived by her sister, Celia Padilla (Enriquez); sons, Randolph ‘Randy’ Reyes and James Reyes, Sr.; daughter, Maria Elena (John) Gould (Reyes); step-daughter, Angela Yolanda Wilcoxson (Reyes); step-son, Richard (Susan) Reyes; grandchildren, James Reyes, Jr. and Vanessa Reyes-Black; great-grandson, Jeremiah Reyes; and several step-children and step-grandchildren.
Guadalupe was employed as a personal home daycare provider for many years before obtaining a certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant where she worked within her field until she retired. Guadalupe remained active with Guardian Angels Parish assisting in various capacities such as the funeral luncheon program and several fundraising efforts. As a devout Catholic, she would read her bible daily, watched the Catholic Channel, and prayed the Rosary each night. Guadalupe enjoyed planting flowers and tending to her garden. She enjoyed doing word searches, listening to music, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family. She enjoyed watching her Royals and Chiefs!
A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at Guardian Angels Parish, 1310 Westport Rd, Kansas City, MO 64111, on Saturday, June 29th with the visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. and Mass following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1150 N 38th St., Kansas City, KS 66102. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Guardian Angels Parish.
