
Guadalupe M. Salazar, 91 of Kansas City’s Westside died at her home February 3, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine, 901 Cesar Chavez Avenida, KCMO. Burial will be in Forest Hill\Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday February 6 at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd, KCMO, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.
Lupe was born January 1, 1924 in Morris, KS (Wyandotte County) to Alberto and Marcianna (Torres) Murillo. A mother of eight, she also worked as a librarian for the Kansas City School District and was a community activist for issues affecting the Hispanic community. In addition to her parents, Lupe was preceded in death by her husband Victor, two sons, Mario and Jaime and two brothers, Basilio and Santiago. Lupe’s survivors include three daughters, Lupe Victoria Salazar, Patricia Carmona and Georgina Herrera, all of Kansas City, MO; three sons, Richard Salazar and Alfredo Salazar, both of Kansas City, MO and Edward Salazar of San Diego, CA; one sister, Felisa Ruiz of Kansas City, MO; 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
