Gwendolyn (Gwen) Mae Dill, 79, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2012, in her Overland Park home. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, 6-8 p.m. at Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64131. A private service for her family will be held the following day. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the ALS Association (www.alsa.org). Gwen was born September 1, 1932, in Kansas City, Kansas. She lived most of her adult life in Overland Park, Kansas with her husband, Bob, of 59 years. While she did work at several professions in her life, her primary one was that of loving wife and mother. Gwen found true happiness in providing a loving home for her husband and three children. Besides keeping a happy home, Gwen loved spending time in her yard tending to her plants and flowers. She always looked forward to spring when her favorite Magnolia tree would blossom. It was touching that she passed away on a beautiful March day with her Magnolia tree in full bloom just outside her window. Gwen also loved the time that she and Bob spent on Marco Island, Florida. They would go a couple times each year, and this became a very special place for them. She was incredibly attached to her sweet little dog, Puggs, who brought smiles to her heart for many years. Pictures and other reminders of Puggs are still placed throughout her home. Gwen touched the lives of so many people and was an example of how good a person truly could be. While ALS may have taken her from us, it can never take away the wonderful memories we have of her as a loving wife, mother and friend. Survivors include her husband Robert H. Dill; sister-in-law Joy Phillips; daughters Debra Myers and Julie Heimke (Bob); son Robert L. Dill (Amy); five grandchildren, Karl (Niki), Kristen (Collin), Kindra (Patrick), Kenny and Landon; and six great-grandchildren, Londynn, Brody, Mason, Roman, Cole and Caleb.
