

Harley Gene Baze, age 69, Independence, Missouri passed away peacefully on the 27th of August, 2016. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, August 30th at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, with funeral to follow at 2:00 pm. Burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64137.
Harley was born on September 29, 1946 to Junior and Dorothy (Walrod) Baze in Kansas City, Missouri. He spent much of his young life in Metz, Missouri. He would return to Kansas City, Missouri where he would meet his soulmate and the love of his life Janice. They married on January 21, 1965 and God blessed them with three wonderful children. They were married 52 blissful years. He was a teamster truck driver before starting Harley Baze Construction which he ran for 37 years. He had a love for hunting, fishing, poker and spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Junior and Dorothy Baze.
Harley is survived by wife Janice, daughter Sherri (Donnie) Matthews, son Rick (Heather) Baze, daughter Lisa (Eric) Halleck, ten grandchildren, Carri (Jeff) Woods, Austin (Jessica) Boerckel, Tiffany (Preston) Pruett, Jordan Baze, Cody (Chloe) Baze, Allie Matthews, Charity Halleck, Sam Halleck, Maddie Baze, Dylan Baze, seven great-grandchildren, Brayden, Kaylie, Addilyn, Amelia, Nash, Ryan and one on the way, and his loyal dog Bella.
