Harold J. “Andy” Anderson passed from this earthly life on December 28, 2010, leaving behind a loving family and as well as an army of friends and acquaintances. He was born in Seneca, Missouri on February 23, 1934 to the late Harry B. Anderson and Ethel Sreaves Anderson. A graduate of Seneca High School, he was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in the United States as well in England. The personification of patriotism, he was a walking encyclopedia of all things American. A voracious reader of newspapers and books, his knowledge of American history, current events and politics ensured that good conversation never ended. His sense of humor and sincere interest in those around him endeared him to family and friends as well as strangers. He was an original “Red Coater” for his beloved K.C. Chiefs and devotedly followed Mizzou athletics as well. His charming smile and outgoing personality served him well in his long, successful career in regional advertising for the L. M. Berry Yellow Pages. He was a loving son, husband, stepfather, grandfather and brother as well as the favorite uncle for two generations of nieces and nephews. He knew the names of spouses, children and grandchildren as well as what was important in their lives. A member of the Red Bridge United Methodist Church, he was active in the United Methodist Men’s Association. Survivors include his wife Christine (Sellers) Anderson; stepdaughter Jeanene Walls and husband Brian of North Webster, Indiana; stepson James Tenney of Warsaw, Indiana; six step-grandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren; sister Mary Anna Stroh of Kansas City; brothers in law Harold Sellers and Jack Sellers both of Pierceton, Indiana and Clarence Whitehead of Neosho, Missouri; as well as several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his sisters Margaret Pogue Smith of Neosho, Missouri, Wanda Whitehead of Seneca, Missouri, and his brother Edward V. Anderson of Baxter Springs, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-12noon followed by funeral service at 12noon Monday, January 3, 2011, at Red Bridge United Methodist Church, 636 E. 117th Street, Kansas City, Missouri, 64131.
