

Harold “Hal” S. Barnes, 87, of Kansas City, MO, passed away October 5, 2014. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 10, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery South.
Harold was born March 23, 1927 the ninth of ten children to James T. and Rillie Mae Barnes in Seminole County, OK. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at 17 years of age and served as a radio operator aboard the U.S.S. Curtiss in the Pacific during WWII.
After one year at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, OK he attended three years at the Kansas City Art Institute. He was recalled to active duty during the Korean Conflict and served the duration with the Armed Forces Press Service in New York City.
Among the various jobs he held during his varied career included terms with Western Auto, Carl Lawson Advertising Company, ICH Corporation, Lithographics Printing Company,and Burns Printing Company.
Most of his adult business life consisted of various areas of responsibility which included Advertising, Public Relations, Graphic Arts and Sales.
He is survived by his wife Mayo, sister Bonnie Wright of Warr Acres, OK, three sons Robert, Douglas and David, one daughter Margaret Ann (Rita), one stepdaughter Kathleen Johnson, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
