

Harold (Mike) was born September 6th, 1933 in Kansas City, MO. The son of Paul E. and Mae M. Michael. He grew up in the southwest area of Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Southwest High School in 1951, and Central Missouri State University in 1955. He participated in football, baseball and track, lettering 4 years. He was in the Army 1955-1957 and received his Master’s degree from CMSU in 1958. He then taught and coached 1 year at Odessa, MO and 31 years in the KCMO school district. He coached football at Central High School 1959-1970 and transferred to Nowlin Junior High and retired in 1988. He was honored with the Knute Rockne award as football coach of the year for the KC area in 1968. He participated in many recreational activities including fishing and golf being his favorites. Mike worked for the Royals every summer, selling tickets, for 46 years.
He is survived by his wife Portia A. of 57 years, two daughters and son in law, Shelli Knapp, Mindy and Chris Griffin, 4 grandchildren, Madison and Blake Knapp, Gunnar and Taylor Griffin.
