

Harold "Red" Leroy Nance of Kansas City, MO passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 22nd at Floral Hills 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd. Kansas City, MO 64133. Friends may call from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Raytown Historical Society, Raytown Class of 56 Scholarship Fund, or The Down Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City. Those wishing to send their condolences may sign the guest book.
Harold was born September 30, 1938 in Kansas City, MO to William and Thelma (Anderson) Nance. He graduated from Raytown High School in 1956. On August 13, 1960 he married Barbara Ann Lilley in Kansas City, MO. He joined The U.S. Air Force and served from 1961-1963. The remainder of his career was spent as a cable splicer / cable repair at Southwestern Bell/AT&T. He retired in 1993. In his retirement years he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and volunteering. Music was a big part of his life. He and Barbara attended several music festivals throughout the years. Among their favorites was the annual Winfield Bluegrass Festival. He also loved spending time in his workshop. Harold was passionate about woodworking and carpentry. We are grateful to have some of his work to remember him by.
Harold is survived by his wife, Barbara of 55 years, daughters, Peggy Farrell and her fiancé George Riddle, Susan Nance and her significant other Jim Gragg, and Debbie Unger and husband Jeff, and former son-in-law, Steven Farrell; seven grandchildren, Josh and wife Erica, Courtney and fiancé Bryan, Michelle and fiancé James, Adam, Tyler, Connor, and Jacob; two sisters, Kathleen Talbott and husband Mark, and Judy Hollandsworth, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Thelma Nance.

Harold was the most genuine, kind hearted, and down to earth man. He will be greatly missed by all.
