Harriet Cecile Givan, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on March 3, 2021. Born to Horace and Ethel on April 1, 1959, Harriet was raised in Westport with her two brothers, Lloyd and Michael, and older sister, Cheryl. In 1977, she graduated from St. Theresa Academy and went on to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education at Kansas State University. For the next thirty years, she worked at North Kansas City Hospital Children's Learning Center--a role she adored, as evidenced by how fondly and often she spoke of “her kids.”With a personality as bright as her collection of handbags, Harriet was a passionate, loving, and optimistic person to all who knew her. She will always be remembered as a self-professed daddy’s girl, a fiercely loyal friend, an enthusiastic “cat-mom” to Sweet Pea, Pumpkin, and Omelette, and a beloved aunt, who made sure to be there or send a colorful card for every important celebration, holiday and birthday. She lived a full and happy life, which ended far too soon. She will be missed. Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Ethel Givan, her brother Michael Hurt, and his wife Loretta. She is survived by her sister Cheryl Givan-Hillmann, brother Lloyd Givan (Tracey), her nephews William Hurt and Alexander Hillmann, her nieces, Angelique Hurt, Perrin Givan, Sydney Givan, and her lifelong friends, Jeannie, Jane, Jean, Sherry, and Cheryl. A memorial to celebrate her life is being planned for later in the year.
