
Harry D. Brown, Jr., 94, passed away January 26, 2011. Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 3, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. Entombment in Garden of Faith Mausoleum in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Harry was born July 4, 1916 at Mt. Washington, Missouri. He was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area. He attended Kansas City, Missouri public schools and graduated from Central High School in 1933. He was a supervisor at North American Aviation in Kansas City, Kansas during World War II and at General Motor’s BOP during the Korean War. He worked in traffic and transportation management for 25 years, retiring as Traffic Manager of Dazey Products Co. in 1981. Harry was a Boy Scout leader with Troops 27 and 83 in Kansas City and was an honorary Mic-O-Say. For more than 50 years he was a member and Past Master of Swope Park Lodge No. 617, AF&AM, the York Rite Bodies and Ararat Shrine. He was also a member and Past Master of York Lodge No. 563 and a KYCH. Harry was a member of the Native Sons of Kansas City and the Kansas City Transportation Assn. He is survived by his bride of 74 years, Martha Scott Brown; two sons Donald Jay Brown of Navasota, Texas and Harry Scott Brown (Kim) of Leawood, Kansas; granddaughter Lisa Taylor (Steve) ; 14 year-old grandson Austin Scott Brown; and one great-granddaughter Addison Taylor.
