Hazel was born in Braymer, Missouri and had fifteen siblings. She owned and operated Jacomo Restaurant in Independence for many years. She was a private pilot, bridge player, and an avid golfer at Crackerneck and Blue Springs Country Clubs. She lived in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas before returning to Independence in 2006.
She is survived by three children; Darlene Simmons, D’Ann Kauffman, and Doug Perkins, seven grandchildren, Mark Simmons, Jeff Simmons, Christine Willis, Rich Kauffman, Kelly Fisher, Casey Kauffman, and Troy Hopcroft, and fourteen great grandchildren.
Hazel was preceded by husbands Billy Perkins and Frank Hopcroft.
Friends and family are invited to gather in a celebration of Hazel’s life on Sunday, April 17, 1:30-3:30 PM at The Pavilion, 14831 E 40 Hwy, Kansas City, Missouri. Flowers may be sent to the residence or memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
