

Hazel was born December 26th, 1931 in McAllen, Texas to parents Richard and Goldie Allen. The family moved to Madera, CA where she graduated from Madera High School in 1949. Hazel met Ralph Shineman at a roller rink one night, and the couple later married in 1953. After their daughter Hazel Ann was born and Ralph completed his military service, they moved to Kansas City and completed their family with the addition of sons Rick and Ron.
Hazel was a devoted mother and homemaker. She found joy in knitting, crochet, and sewing. She gardened, put together puzzles, and loved to square dance with Ralph. Hazel was also an incredible bowler, winning trophies for her above 200 games. She traveled when she had the opportunity. She became a grandmother and the devotion continued, cheering on the grandchildren at their school activities, sporting and life events.
She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Goldie (Castleman) Allen; husband Ralph Shineman Jr; sister Ruth Chase; brother Richard Allen; daughter Hazel Ann Schelp; granddaughter Angela Schelp, along with extended family and in-laws.
Survivors include her son and family - Rick and wife Mari Shineman; grandsons – Richard (Katie Otterman), and Steven (Kristina); great grandchildren - Austin, Aubrey and Titus. Son and family – Ron and wife Tracy Shineman; grandchildren Courtney (Dan), Lindsay, Melissa, Danny (Danielle); great grandchildren Amara, Ryan, Michael, Kynzie, Taven, Layla, Annalise, Hudson, Avi, and Hadley; and her daughter, Hazel Ann's family, great grandchildren Noah, Kaylee, Gwen (Hayden); and great-great grandchildren Remington and Rhettlee.
