Helen “Faye” (Anderson) Faller, age 96, of Platte City, Missouri peacefully passed away at Saint Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri on October 21, 2023, with her loving daughter Georgina and son-in-law Carl “Tony” Marlo, and Ebony, the family’s toy Pomeranian by her side.
Faye was born on March 9,1927 to Amil and Pearl (Krout) Anderson at their home, in Sheridan County, Wyoming. She was the middle child in her family, her older sister Elva, younger brother Duane. Faye was raised on her parents’ 460-acre hay farm 3 miles out of town in the Big Goose area.
Faye was a cute and happy child. Pearl entered her into a pretty baby contest at the age of two and Faye won! She had her photos taken by Loucks Sheridan's local photographer studio. Faye and her sister helped their mom bottle raise Bum lamb's. Faye and her brother Duane attended Mrs. Mary Morris' rural one-room schoolhouse in the Big Goose area, until the family moved in 1936 to a 10-acre place between the fairground and the county club. Faye's mom would give her and her brother Duane 10 cents every Saturday to go and see the Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans picture show. Faye graduated high school from Sheridan High in June 1947.
In 1943, Fay was in Wyoming 4-H Home Economics. She enjoyed making dresses, and she ended up winning a Blue Ribbon for her navy blue dress and hat. In the summer, Faye would spend time in town at her aunt's and uncle's playing with her two cousins Kathleen and Alice, and she would spend time with her Grandma Amanda Krout. One afternoon, Faye, Duane and some of their cousins were all playing at Grandma Krout's house and somehow Faye fell out of the first floor window and ended up breaking her right arm. Faye's Grandma Krout was not happy about her sitting on the window seal and falling out. Grandma had let Faye know about it on their way to see the town doctor. Faye felt Grandma was upset because she had to stop what she was working on and change her dress before walking into town to see the doctor.
In 1948, Faye met and married her first husband Jerry Steel in Sheridan, Wyoming. In 1950, Faye and Jerry moved to Great Falls, Montana. Russell Lee was born in May of 1951. Faye divorced Jerry Steel in 1953.
In 1955, Faye met George D. Faller and was married to him on January 7, 1956. Faye became a stepmother to George’s three sons, William D., Leroy G. and Samuel L. George adopted Russell L. and eight years later George and Faye finally had their daughter, Georgina Faye. Faye always considered George’s sons her children and when the grandkids came, she was “Grandma” Faller to all of them. Faye and George raised their four boys and one daughter in Great Falls, Montana.
Faye enjoyed being a homemaker. She would have a big garden every year, and would can her vegetables and fresh fruit. For several years Faye was in a daytime women's bowling league in Great Falls. She enjoyed sewing matching nightgowns and dresses for her mother Pearl and her daughter Georgina. She started working on her family genealogy with her sister Elva, and with their paper research and old family pictures that Pearl and Faye had from over the years they had put together wonderful research books.
In October of 2009, after the death of her husband and sons, Faye moved to Lake Stevens, Washington to live with her daughter Georgina and son-in-law “Tony” and their family. In July of 2011, Faye completed treatment and beat her cancer. She enjoyed traveling to Montana, the Washington Coast, the Oregon Coast, Wyoming and Colorado, and attended several family reunions.
June of 2014, Faye moved with her daughter and son-in-law to Platte City, Missouri. Faye has been a member of Platte City United Methodist Church for the last nine years. Faye enjoyed attending church every Sunday and visiting with her church family.
Faye is survived by her daughter, Georgina, son-in-law Carl “Tony” Marlo of Platte City, Missouri, and sons Leroy, daughter-in-law Georgia Faller, and Samuel Faller Sr. of Palmer, Alaska. Along with 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, niece Chris Licht of Cascade, Montana, nephews Amil, niece-in-law Jeanette Murray of Avinger, Texas, David Murray of Gresham, Oregon and many other nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, husband; George D. Faller, sister Elva Vanderpool, brother Duane Anderson, sons William D. Faller and Russell L. Faller, granddaughter Letisha Faller, grandson Samuel Faller Jr., and great-grandson Levi Wright.
On Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 3 PM, a memorial service will be held for Helen at Platte City United Methodist Church. Cookies and Coffee will be served after the service.
