Helen Aletha Gardner, 95, of Independence, Missouri, passed away April 14, 2013 at Rosewood Health & Rehab Center. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at The Groves, White Oak Chapel, 1415 W. White Oak Street, Independence, Missouri. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery South, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
Helen was born April 12, 1918 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a lifelong resident of Kansas City. A professional classical dancer, she performed and taught for over 60 years. An accomplished business woman, Helen was administrator of Vineyard Park Doctor’s Hospital for eight years, and president of the Missouri Osteopathic Hospital Association for 21 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert Samuel Gardner and infant daughter, Helen Roberta Gardner. She is survived by two sons Robert Reich Gardner of Weaverville, North Carolina and Fred Leslie Gardner of Independence, Missouri.
