She is survived by her son Ron Hook (Brenda) of Chilhowee, MO; daughter, Cristy Pierson (Ernie) of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren: Jackie Hancock (Heath) of Leawood, KS; Josh Pierson (Molly) of Overland Park, KS; Kevin Hook of Kansas City, MO; and Nadine Badu (David) of Mannheim, Germany. Great-grandchildren: Hannah and Henry Hancock, Helen, Hazel, and William Pierson, Alex Hook, Alina Hook, Tamia and Ashanti Badu. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Harlan.
Helen was from a large family and was one of eleven siblings. She grew up in a small town in northern Missouri. She married her husband, Harlan, in 1949 and they were married for 73 years before his passing. She worked as a secretary for 28 years with the Skelly Oil Company later known as Chevron. She retired in 1984 and was retired for 42 years. In retirement she learned to play the organ and with her husband, they played in nursing homes all over the city and in small towns in Kansas and Missouri. She loved to go dancing on Saturday nights with her husband and many friends. She enjoyed being with family and attending events involving the grandchildren. She was also a member of Nall Avenue Baptist Church in Overland Park, KS for many years.
The family would like to thank SeniorCare Homes of Overland Park and Advanced Home Health and Hospice of KC for the excellent care she was given. We appreciate everything they did for our Mom. She will be missed by her loving family.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, 11:00 AM, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131.
