

Helen B. Mansker, 93, passed away December 2nd, 2013 at Kingswood Senior Living Community, with family by her side. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5th, at Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. A celebration of her life will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7500 Oak, Kansas City, Missouri on Friday, December 6th, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery South.
Helen was born March 11, 1920 in LaGrange, Missouri to Fred and Clarice Bauer. She attended LaGrange High School and the University of Missouri. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Helen married John H. Mansker in 1947 and they had two sons, she met John while teaching Home Economics in Chester, Illinois. John and Helen and their two boys lived on many Air Force bases, Biloxi, Amarillo, Germany and Little Rock, during John’s 27 year military career. Helen taught school at Little Rock Air Force Base, and in 1963 after John’s retirement and settling in Kansas City, Missouri, she continued her teaching career at Boone Elementary School on 89th and Wornall, until her retirement in 1980. Helen helped form and was an active member of the Lioness Club of Red Bridge, she also enjoyed playing bridge, entertaining, and cooking.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Vivian Crawford. She is survived by sons Sam (Cheryl) and Greg (Karen), four grandchildren Scott, Stacy, Keith and Ryan, seven great-grandchildren, and sister Joann Crawford.
