Herbert E. Grasher, age 90, of Raytown, MO passed away April 17th at Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, MO. Herb was born in Norwood, MO, to Charles and Golda Grasher. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 59 years, Virginia, and his granddaughter Danielle.
Herb grew up in Missouri and enlisted in the US Army Air Corps serving in Texas and the Philippines. After returning, he went to work for the US Air Force as a Civil Service employee retiring after 34 years of service. Herb enjoyed helping people and could fix about anything. He also provided helpful real-life advice. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Kansas City. Herb enjoyed fishing, farming and gardening and taught many skills to those he came in contact with. In his final years, he moved to the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg where he served as president of the Veterans Council and oversaw installation and maintenance of "his" flower gardens. Herb truly loved his family and friends that included most everyone he came in contact with.
Herb is survived by, Sons: Dan (Elaine), of Arlington, TX and Dennis (Annette), of Raytown, MO; 3 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. Brother, Louis of Missouri; sister, Virginia of Michigan and many other extended family members all over the country.
Services will be at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Visitation, Friday, April 27th, 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Funeral, Saturday, April 28th, 10:00 A.M. Contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran Church – Kansas City, MO.
