Born July 18, 1945 in Memphis, TN to Mary Katherine (Née Dameworth) and Hollis Jewel Bass Sr. Things he was proudest of in his life included serving in the U.S. Marines, working with artists and musicians. working at Sprint, being a teaching patient at KU Medical Center.
He is survived by his daughter Hadas Laurel (Tony) Becker and his 3 grandsons Isaac, Samson, and Leo of Crystal City, MO. Step-son Brian Gill of Incline Village, NV; Siblings Dan (Kathy) Dart, Judy Pilley, Lori Carter, and Randy Jones. Hollis leaves behind many friends from over the years whom he loved and shared many great times with.
He was fond of quoting John Lennon "Life is what happens while you are making other plans." He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sally Bass. Hollis and Sally spent 38 years together, they loved gardening, traveling, riding their bikes, and sharing great food and music together. Memorials may be made to the Kansas City Community Garden or Eden Animal Haven.
