

Hollis Warren Martin passed peacefully on July 10th, 2013. He was born on December 18, 1928 in Pontotoc, Mississippi, son of Volus and Helen (Warren) Martin. He graduated from Thaxton High School before attending Holmes Junior College and Mississippi State University, where he earned a B.S. in Agricultural Education. He then learned to fly in the Air Force before starting a career at Trans World Airlines in 1956, where he worked until 1988. He raised his family in Leawood, Kansas before retiring to Lake Lotowana, Missouri. After retirement, he enjoyed many years full of travel and grandchildren and was an active member of Kiwanis and the Missouri Yacht Club. Hollis is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife Ann, son Derek (Amy), daughter Kristen, granddaughters Katie, Abbi, and Elizabeth, brothers Blois, Jackie, and Culley, sister Leota, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Prairie Baptist Church at 75th and Roe in Prairie Village, Kansas at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, July 17th. A reception at the church will follow. Hollis's family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the outstanding care provided by The Heritage of Overland Park and Vitas Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Kiwanis International Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association - Heart of America Chapter.
